The show previously listed by BBB on this date was determined to actually be 1978-10-10.
The opening bands included with this recording make for a truly unique document of a moment in time.
Although the recording is identified as “Captain Jackets”, the first opener is, in fact, longtime DEVO associate Genral Jackett, who appears in the “Secret Agent Man” segment of The Truth About De-Evolution. Jackett wrote the original versions of “Sloppy” and “Those Darn Girls”, which are featured in this recording.
Based on this scan of a review of this show, “Spaz Attack” is actually a band called The Visitors, with DEVO’s friend and colleague Spazz Attack on vocals. Craig Allen Rothwell, better known as Spazz Attack, is the dancer/performer with wild red hair and spastic dance moves in DEVO’s films for “Satisfaction”, “Come Back Jonee”, and “Peek-A-Boo”. He also was heavily featured in Toni Basil’s home video version of her Word of Mouth album, in addition to having toured with David Bowie as a dancer. And what’s more, the bassist for The Visitors was a 16-year-old Kira Roessler, known later for her work in Black Flag, amongst other things. (Thanks are due to xMMx for researching this!)
The files presented by BBB remain unmodified and retain the misidentifications.
[xMMx revisions have been treated to provide the smoothest listening experience. Please keep all notes with these revisions and do not distribute them in place of the original recordings.]
