1981-10-31 – New York City, NY – Radio City Music Hall [source 1] [2023 new master]

Original Recording

Quality:

Source (AUD #1):

the Grape’s Sony Pressman with built in microphone > Maxell UD C90 cassette master

Transfer:

(grner1 – 2022-08-01]: Nakamichi Dragon > Sound Devices MixPre-6 II @ 32bit(float)/96kHz > Pro Tools (normalize, minor seamless fixes, tracking and down-sampling – no EQ or noise reduction) > WAV files > xACT (Flac level 8 files, tagged with sector boundaries verified for the 16/44.1 files)

Approximately 1 minute was missing from the last chord of Uncontrollable Urge into the beginning of Mongoloid. That bit was patched in from the better channel of another source (Sony supplied microphone > Sony TC D-3 > TDK SA C90 cassette master > Nakamichi RX-505 > KindKables > Apogee Mini Me @ 24/48 > FLAC > xACT > Pro Tools (pitch adjust and splice into gap)

Notes:

Among the legendary “Grape Tapes”. Offered in 24bit/96kHz (high resolution) and 16bit/44.1kHz (CD resolution).

Recording upgraded 2023-11-02. As of 2023-11-09, and with the approval of the Grape, the filesets for both the 24bit and 16bit versions have been updated to correct an error in track sequencing (“Through Being Cool” and “Jerkin’ Back ‘n’ Forth” were swapped in the original fileset). New FFP and MD5 checksum files were created for the fix. Thanks to LilShootDawg for bringing this to the attention of the Basement.
